Getting Backlinks Through Popular Clone Scripts

This idea is nothing new but it should bring an interesting new idea to you folks out there who love to make backlink spammers and find new places to get links. Nowdays it is practically impossible to get any links without having a way to solve the captcha issue. So I am warning you now you will need some form of solution to solve captchas whether it be using some existing library for OCR or pawning the solving off to manual labor, you MUST have a method of solving. I personally would recommend just pawning off the labor. The time cost of solving the captcha versus the cost of the manual labor from india or the phillipenes is almost too retarded to even consider bothering with a programmed solution. Another reason I recommend you just put it out to manual labor is because even if they change the captcha a million times, your manual labor will always be able to solve it. But the same thing cannot be said about a programmed captcha solving method.

So you need a few thousand backlinks but all the usual stuff is spammed to death already. vbulletin, phpbb, that good old Microsoft Frontpage bulletin board, ikonboard, SMF. Ahh is there any script that is not overrun by spammer yet? Jeeze! Well there are a few that are not entirely overrun by spammers. They do have a few people spamming them but for the most part nobody is using them. There is a difference in these scripts and others and there's a reason they are not exactly overrun with spam.

When a normal blackhat noob starts out they think, "Okay I need backlinks. I can hit forums. I can hit comment forms. I can hit blog hosts". And then they begin to make a list of these types of scripts. For example here is a good list of forum scripts:

  • PHPBB
  • VBulletin
  • SMF
  • IkonBoard
  • MiniBB
  • Invision Board
  • DeluxeBB
  • PunBB
  • MyBB

Great now we have a big list of forum scripts. All we need now is a footprint for each of them and write up a little script to spam each kind of board. Now we can get thousands of backlinks and keep scanning each week to find new forums setup for spamming. Cool huh! Yeah...But after a while you begin to realize that using this method there is a wall you hit where you cannot keep sites indexed as they are quickly marked for spam. Then you actually LOOK at one of the bulletin boards you're spamming one day only to find out that thousands of others are spamming it as well. Not only that, but half of them are doing a much better job and are much more clever than you ever thought of being as to how to hide their spam. So you hand your head in defeat, or you get more servers and push everything harder to try and make the money. It seems like an uphill battle to keep sites indexed and ranking. Why? You're stuck in dinosaur mode. These tactics don't work well anymore for most people (there are still many who have great success with this, but I'm sure they could be doing much better).

Now I'm going to present a different way of thinking to you than the normal "type of script" thinking. I call this the "clone of script" thinking. The way it works is this. Instead of thinking, "what kind of guestbook scripts exist", and compiling a list; Ask yourself, "what is a popular website nowdays?". Let's assume your answer is "Craigslist". Okay so craigslist is very popular, and chances are someone has created a php script or asp script to clone craigslist. We will call these "clone scripts". So now our goal is to find these scripts. After some hunting I found the following scripts that claim to have the same functionality as craigslist or be a clone of it:

  • Craigslist Extra Clone
  • XZero Community Classifieds
  • My Classifieds
  • Locazolist Classifieds
  • AJ Classifieds

Okay so now we realize a pattern here. These are all basically "classifieds" scripts. But we never thought to spam classifieds scripts before (well, maybe you did, but I didn't). It's easier to pick an example site, find a clone script of it, and then use a pattern throughout these clone scripts to find a whole new type of script. Another example would be delicious. You simply run a google search for "delicious clone script php". After finding a few of them you will realize they are simply "social bookmarking scripts", and at that point you can widen your search for scripts to spam by plugging that into google. Most people are stuck on the "comments, guestbooks, forums, trackbacks, and blogs" kick that they forget how many other millions of scripts exist that you can easily spam and are not yet being hammered by thousands of other spammers. So start out thinking in terms of "Clone Scripts" and not just "Types Of Scripts" because it's very easy to forget a certain type, but it's not very easy to forget a popular website like myspace (myspace is probably the most cloned website in existence, so many myspace php clones exist it's not funny).

You may have noticed I have not posted in quite some time. This is due to some new things I found to play with that kept me very very busy. I had a ton of code to write to automate a few things but now I have more free time and should be posting more again. Also if you made it to the end of the post, here's a special tread. Go to http://www.clone-script.com/. It is a website which will list clone scripts of popular websites.
